Electronic Arts has released two games for Ubuntu

The Company Electronic Arts, one of the largest game publishers, developers attending the conference Canonical, announced the trial launch of two of their games on the platform of Ubuntu Software Center. This game «Lords of Ultima» and «Command & Conquer Tiberium Alliances», working in the system default browser. Games are created in a MMOG and popular universes Ultima and C & C, respectively.

Both games are available free of charge. To install them, you must have Canonical, for example, you can use the data from your account on launchpad.net. The games themselves require, however, a separate registration.

Ubuntu Rescue Remix with new tool

To celebrate the new version of Ubuntu is also an updated 12:04 Rescue Remix for data recovery.
The live system does not use a graphical desktop environment, and makes small demands on the hardware configuration of the computer. Among the software packages , there are file system and disk tools such as ntfsprogs, parted, partimage, and smartmontools. It also contains the Rescue distribution forensics programs that can be used also to save data, including, Sleuthkit, Photorec and Foremost. The new addition to the recent release called Ddrutility and is a wrapper script for GNU separate utilities. The tool finds all files on a disk that have broken block.

Linux kernel 2.3 gets Long Term Support

The kernel release 3.2 is one of the developers of the long-term well-maintained version.

As the kernel programmer Greg Kroah-Hartman on the developer’s list announced that Linux kernel 3.2 is maintained by the developers in the long term.

Typically replace newly published versions of Linux, the old, to ensure longer term stability, but now the developers maintain excellent kernel versions longer. So far, this includes the Linux kernel 2.6.27 and 2.6.32. The kernel developer Ben Hutchings has now agreed to continue to look after Linux 3.2.0.

Trisquel 5.5 released

Trisquel, built on popular Ubuntu Linux distribution without any proprietary components, has been released in version 5.5. The new version updated to GNOME 3 and Linux 3.0.

Trisquel GNU / Linux is one of the of the Free Software Foundation (FSF) recommended distributions, since they all proprietary components where they are known, away from the distribution. Trisquel comes from the Spanish province of Galicia and is based in the new version 5.5 “Brigantia” on Ubuntu 11.10. It’s like the published half a year ago Trisquel 5.0 a distribution that is supported only for a year with updates. The next version should, however, as Trisquel 4.0 regained long-term support.

Gnome 3, quo vadis?

It still seems not quite as wild as Unity to be what is there in the making, but the Gnome 3 also begins to give up a menu bar that makes me a little worried. In addition, the whole effect even more inaccessible than unity, where the menu was displayed earlier today directly and on mouseover. With Gnome 3 is the menu that appears when you click.

I mean, we are talking about a desktop system, no-touch mobile OS. Whilst I appreciate that for small screens it follows a general sense menu. However, something should then be more likely option. As far as I know the entire desktop (in principle) be built on HTML, you should also design a responsive yet not be a problem. Happy with the option not to use the responsive behavior. Who bootstrap concepts should be familiar with, or similar menu, but can be expected that a desktop can own a similar behavior could be.
