The company introduced the release Digia IDE Qt Creator 2.6, designed to create cross-platform applications using the library Qt. Supports the development of both classical programming in C + +, and the use of language QML to define scenarios that use JavaScript, and the structure and parameters of the interface elements are defined CSS-like blocks. Qt Creator source code distributed under license LGPL.

Highlight:

Joao Abecasis of Nokia’s Qt mailing list suggested that the current system of training of new releases.

As soon released a new major version Qt 5, he believes that now is a good time to consider the plan next release version of Qt.

Joao has to go for a fixed time-release cycle releases:

• every 6 months – a minor release (5.x);
• every 2 months – Release Adjustment (5.xx).

In addition, it is proposed to restructure repository git-Qt, creating in it the following branches:

• Fire hose - the main branch for the development of Qt. It is intended to develop a minor release, allows the addition of new features and bug fixes.
• Leaky faucet - a branch to develop corrective releases, only allows error correction of the current minor release.
• Dripping bucket - a branch for the release are made only to fix critical bugs.

Quietly released version 4.9 the most popular desktop environment KDE.

Most changes are related to the quality and stability of KDE: this is the result of the KDE Quality Team, founded in the year.

All the time this version of KDE development team thoroughly tested it and found over 160 bugs. Thus, in Okular was corrected bug introduced in the program in 2007: Notes to the documents were not saved and not published. In addition, KDE Quality Team monitors the correction of regression in applications KDE SC.

But, of course, in addition to bug fixes, this release brings new opportunities.

• Dolphin file manager can now show the file metadata (such as assessment, tags, author and creation time), but also group and sort the files on them. Also, now renamed to not open a separate dialog.
• From the terminal emulator Konsole can search selected text on the Internet.

Part of the staff Nokia, working on Maemo, MeeGo and devices on these operating systems (from N800 to N9), and retired from the corporation this week, joined the new company Jolla Mobile.

Jolla is based come from Nokia in the past year, but currently only announced today. Now the company is not even the site, but there is a twitter, in which employees answered questions from visitors.

The company will develop a mobile OS based on MeeGo. The developers claim that the new OS will be open, “as far as possible,” and intend to actively support the project Mer. Of course, the OS will use Qt.

Today went to the torrent client Qt – KTorrent.
The main changes are:

• Added the ability to scan individual files.
• Improved work with streaming video.
