Court Commission on International Trade in the U.S. (ITC) pleaded guilty to Microsoft for infringement of four patents, Motorola’s product Microsoft XBox. Applying the ITC from Motorola was a response to Microsoft patent claims to manufacturers of smartphones based on OS Android.

Recall that last year the company Google bought Motorola Mobility Business , with whom he has received patent portfolio contains more than 17,000 patents. Google has repeatedly stated that these patents will be used to protect the ecosystem of Android.

The largest U.S. booksellers Barnes and Noble, on which Microsoft sued for refusing to buy licenses for patents, allegedly infringed Nook device running Android, released some of these patents.

12 companies for patent infringement claim by the codec Google WebM

The Debian project has released a paper on the legal aspects of patents in the software

The Debian Project announces the release of a special document on the legal aspects and risks when dealing with software patents, aimed at training free software, and development teams distributions. The document was called “Explaining policy dissemination of proprietary solutions to the community” (Community Distribution Patent Policy FAQ) and posted on the site Debian.org.

This document was prepared by lawyers from the Center for Rights of Free Software ( Software Freedom Law Center (SFLC) ) on request and based on the information of the project Debian. The document has no legal force, but provides full information about working with proprietary solutions in software and is extremely useful for use in developing community-free distributions.
