Google has released a new version of Android software development kit for r17 brings among other things, a much faster emulator for Windows, Linux and Mac OS X as well as real-time network statistics.

The new SDK puts an end to the rather sluggish Android emulator and emulation now supports hardware-accelerated on computers with a corresponding CPU. Supports are Windows, Mac and Linux for Intel CPUs with Intel VT extension. The virtualization technology from AMD processors (AMD-V, SVM) can currently only use Linux for the optimization of the Android emulator. The setup is quite complicated, but on developer.android.com described in great detail . Also note that the acceleration only for machines with Android 2.3 or later works, but not for version 2.2 or older.

Another important innovation of the current Dalvik Debug Monitor SDK affects the Server (DDMS). About these can be customized with the SDK in version r17 network statistics in real-time trace. This allows developers and other interested parties live right now, how much data via wireless LAN or over the 3G/4G-Netzwerk be sent. Again, there is but one important limitation, because the real-time statistics work only on Android 4.0.3, the developer also needs to adapt its app accordingly, so this shows up in statistics.

The SDK is available now at r17 developer.android.com available for download. There is also the list of all the new features in Android version r17 .

A year and a month after the previous release project released a new build of Haiku Haiku OS Alpha 3 1. The main purpose of the event – to give interested third parties to a new stable version for development and testing of their products. For this part includes a set of developer tools, which include customers GIT, SVN, CVS, HG, development tools, GCC 2 and GCC 4 (the latter, however, do not use without urgency, as the team Haiku can not guarantee the compatibility of the API in the future versions of its operating system).

In addition the new version contains the following improvements:

Support btrfs, extfs, exFAT;

Support for printers using the package Guttenprint;

Support for PAE;

Improved localization, mapping characters of Chinese and Japanese keyboard layouts;

MediaKit for audio / video files;

Stack and tile placement of windows, the support teams on combinations of keys on the keyboard;

The new graphical interface of some applications (BootManager, DiskUsage, MediaPlayer, ReadOnlyBootPrompt and ShowImage);

Improved API to draw the desktop items;

Overall, more than 950 bug fixes over version Aplha 2.

It is also worth noting that while the project supports only x86 architecture and the following system requirements: CPU at least Pentium II 400 MHz, 128 MB RAM and 700 MB hard disk space.

Of course, the project is still under intensive development (local bugtracker currently more than 2,000 open tickets), so it is welcome bug reports .
