WebM community launches Cross-License Initiative

The Internet industry leaders such as Mozilla, Opera and Google launched WebM project to develop a free Media format for Web applications, has launched a licensing initiative.
Under the name WebM Community Cross-License (CCL) , the initiative will help ensure that developers and companies and codec components to WebM project can contribute more code. The members and licensees agree to this, they held patents to other members free of charge to be made available. While the WebM project started with 40 founding members, it is in the CCL initiative currently 17 participants, including many hardware manufacturers such as AMD, Cisco, MIPS, Samsung and Texas Instruments.
