The beta version of Ubuntu scheduled for October 2011 11:10 “Oneiric Ocelot” brings an updated version of the new Unity desktop environment and a new minimum-users, which can serve as a starting point for your own distribution.
The first beta version of Ubuntu 11:10 “Oneiric Ocelot” is ready for testing. This version introduces two new variants of the Canonical Distribution. The first is called “Ubuntu Core” and is a reduced edition of Ubuntu that will be better suited as a base for custom distributions. The second is Lubuntu, the desktop environment LXDE installed.
Ubuntu 11:10 Beta1 comes to scale DVD images that only 1.5 GB in size. This makes them more manageable, according to Canonical. CD images are still available.
Unity has evolved , so has the concept of “places” to “fields of view (Scopes) and lens” expands. The indicators have been improved visually, and a separate power status indicator has been inserted.
Evolution was Thunderbird replaced by e-mail client. Déjà Dup was accepted as a standard backup utility. The Twitter client Gwibber should be adapted in the new version of Gnome and faster third Gnome itself is currently in version 3.1.5 and is included until the release of Ubuntu yet updated to 3.2 11:10. The Ubuntu software center was expanded with a view of the best rated packages in all categories, allows you to modify and delete your own reviews and packages to install much faster.
