Open Build Service (OBS) – open and ready development platform distribution. The service provides developers with the tools to easily build and release software for Linux distributions on different hardware platforms.

OBS 2.3 allows you to control releases of the product effective and transparent way:

Ubuntu Rescue Remix with new tool

To celebrate the new version of Ubuntu is also an updated 12:04 Rescue Remix for data recovery.
The live system does not use a graphical desktop environment, and makes small demands on the hardware configuration of the computer. Among the software packages , there are file system and disk tools such as ntfsprogs, parted, partimage, and smartmontools. It also contains the Rescue distribution forensics programs that can be used also to save data, including, Sleuthkit, Photorec and Foremost. The new addition to the recent release called Ddrutility and is a wrapper script for GNU separate utilities. The tool finds all files on a disk that have broken block.

KDE Plasma Active gets three new file browser on Nepomuk-based

Plasma Active 3 will get a completely new file browser based on Nepomuk and QML.

The developer Marco Martin introduced the new file browser as a central element of Plasma Active 3 in front of his blog. The File Browser relies largely on the Nepomuk framework and therefore does not like ordinary file manager. Rather, the user can access files stored in the tablet as by type or by creation date or sort of multi-touch gestures to select or tag. Furthermore, the application includes a viewer.

Scientific Linux 5.8 is available

The Scientific Linux distribution Red Hat-based Branch has updated its fifth
This pulls the RHEL distribution for their model, from which sources they created their free packages. Also updates the Linux, which is used as at CERN, the stackable file system AUFS and firmware for WLAN chips from Ralink and Intel and installed the latest security fixes for Sun’s Java. The network file system Open AFS version 4.1.14 fixes with a small locking bug. Further details can be found in the release notes .

Bukobot – 3D printer with his own hands

Porkueras Diego (Diego Porqueras) has launched a campaign on the kickstarter to establish the production of 3D-printers for enthusiasts. Diego project is part of the Open Hardware and all drawings will be made available to the public.

3D-printer – a device that uses a layering technique to create a physical object based on the virtual 3D-model. Bukobot a blast of his kind.

Apache Cassandra 1.1 released

The Cassandra team is very pleased to announce the release of Apache Cassandra
version 1.1.0. Cassandra 1.1.0 is a new major release for the Apache Cassandra
distributed database. This version adds numerous improvements [1,2], amongst
which:

  • Schema updates have been reworked and conflict from concurrent updates
    are now automatically resolved [4]
  • It introduces a new major revision of the Cassandra Query Language:
    CQL v3.0 [5], even though CQL 2.0 is still supported and the default.
  • Updates within a row are now made in isolation [6].
  • Finer-grained control over data directories placement [7].
  • Global row and key caches for easier configuration

Linux kernel 2.3 gets Long Term Support

The kernel release 3.2 is one of the developers of the long-term well-maintained version.

As the kernel programmer Greg Kroah-Hartman on the developer’s list announced that Linux kernel 3.2 is maintained by the developers in the long term.

Typically replace newly published versions of Linux, the old, to ensure longer term stability, but now the developers maintain excellent kernel versions longer. So far, this includes the Linux kernel 2.6.27 and 2.6.32. The kernel developer Ben Hutchings has now agreed to continue to look after Linux 3.2.0.

CMS Typo3 4.7 with improved accessibility

The content management system (CMS) TYPO3 is in the version 4.7 released. It is the latest version of the 4.x series, because now the developers put their energy into version 6.0.

TYPO3 7.4 is based on HTML5 and thus benefits from its integrated media support. It contains updated versions of PHP and ADOdb libraries Swift Mailer, the Typo3 STARTTLS support and the new native MySQL driver help with ADOdb. The expansion of “indexed search” has been revised to provide the new fluid template and does not require JavaScript.

OpenSSH 6.0: bugfix release

Largely designed to eliminate errors in OpenSSH 6.0 presents.

The free implementation of SSH protocol also offers several new features such as optional screening checkpoints in the module “ssh-keygen”. The release announcement mentions other features and lists the most important bug fixes.
