Test Day Fedora: Power Management

Fedora now spends one day a broad profile of the test: testing the power management.

List of test cases:

  • suspend / resume using pm-utils;
  • hibernate / resume using pm-utils;
  • gathering information on the errors pm-utils;
  • Notebook: identification of the battery and power supply, the reaction pm-powersave to change the source;
  • Notebook: a reaction to the closing of the lid;
  • Notebook: Change the brightness of the screen;
  • basic functionality and utility service tuned tuned-adm;
  • Notebook and in the presence of wattmeter – measurement of energy consumption for different profiles tuned.

Fedora 17 Alpha released

The Fedora Project has released the alpha version of Fedora 17th In addition to the new desktops KDE SC 4.8 and Gnome 4.3 can be found in the alpha version, many improvements in virtualization and clustering.

In the vote on the name of the next version could the supporters of the name “Miracle Beefy triumph” after several attempts. Suitable to take notice of the alpha version of Fedora 17 humorous reference to that. The alpha version already contains all the planned features of the new version, partly but not completely. But it should be sufficiently complete and stable for initial testing.

Fedora will be rolling-release distro?

Red Hat Fedora writes scholarship in 2012

The open-source solutions provider Red Hat has announced that he now accepts applications for the Fedora Scholarship program. In the program, students may participate around the world that support the Fedora Project or other open-source project with contributions.

The Fedora Scholarship program this year goes into the fifth round.

Under the program each year a high school student who has received a contribution to the Fedora project and made his studies in the fall.

The scholarship is worth $ 2,000 annually and is paid over a period of four years. If the grant recipient will attend a FUDCon, Red Hat takes over for the duration of the scholarship for travel and accommodation expenses to the nearest event.

After a year working in the Linux distribution with Fuduntu 14:12 Release has been on its own legs.

Fedora 16 with kernel 3.1 and cloud tools
