openSUSE 12.2 (Mantis)

A new release distribution openSUSE.

Main components:

  • Linux 3.4.6.
  • KDE 4.8.4 compiled with Qt 4.8.1, a fast and stable.
  • KDE3 and supporting Udisks2 Upower.
  • GNOME 3.4 now runs on any hardware due llvmpipe.
  • GIMP 2.8.
  • LibreOffice 3.5.
  • GCC 4.7.


  • The distribution includes a large number of packages python3, but the default is still used python27.
  • Systemd 44 – adds the ability to use watchdog for the services. Added special patch that allows you to use symlinks type / usr / sbin / rcfoo → / sbin / service to manage the service foo, as in traditional openSUSE with sysvinit.
  • Grub 2.0 is the default.
  • XOrg 1.12 with support for multi-touch and the new video drivers (NVIDIA GeForce 600 «Kepler», AMD Radeon 7xxx and AMD Trinity APU).
