First milestone of UCS 3.1

The Bremen Linux distributor Univention has released a first preview of the Univention Corporate Server 3.1. The system is based more on how UCS 3.0 Debian 6.0 “Squeeze”, with some updates.

Univention want claims to be like before the partners and customers as early as possible in the development of Univention Corporate Server (UCS) 3.1 include. Here, now, the first milestone of UCS 3.1 was released. This includes an update on the Linux kernel 3.2, updates to the Dojo framework, network configuration for Bridges, VLAN and group bonding and faster resolution.

The installer now uses the UEFI standard provided GUID partition table. Further updates are Samba 3.6.6, Samba 4 beta 4, Xen 4.1.3, qemu / kvm 1.1 and OpenLDAP 2.4.31. Further changes are planned, so Samba 4 and the kernel are again brought to the latest version. In addition, an App Center created, and Windows 8 and 2012 are supported.


The first milestone is for the 32 – and 64-bit x86 architecture and can be installed from DVD.
