Damn Small Linux 4.11rc
by admin ·
Damn Small Linux has been updated for the first time in 4 years.
Damn Small Linux - a minimalist distribution based on Debian for architecture x86, running on the 2.4 kernel and the entire distribution of the size of 50 MB. Designed for use on older computers, and can run with minimal system requirements: CPU – Intel 486, RAM – 16 MB.
The current version has been updated JWM v2.1.0 (window manager), Dillo 3.0.2 (browser), xChat 1.8.9 (IRC-client); added sic 1.1 (IRC-client) and XCalc-color (calculator); removed flminicalc , gphone and naim / nicq / nirc as obsolete and more inefficient.
Refined and continue to be refined system scripts, the interface – have to wait for full release. For example, it became possible to replace Fluxbox and JWM without restarting the X’s. Distribution is quite a «user friendly», as it has a familiar interface and easy access to applications through the application icons and menu items.
