Ubuntu needs apps, Ubuntu gets Apps: Now, are the winners of the app showdown.
The developer blog today named the winner of the App Showdown , and presents its applications. First place was won light read, which makes it possible to install a thin client for Google Reader and so manage the RSS feeds easily. Also landed in second place, a social media app Fogger allows you to use Facebook as a standalone app in a window and to integrate into both the launcher from Ubuntu. Third place was occupied Picsaw eventually that turns your photos into a puzzle. The winner of the contest may win awards as laptops and smart phones from Nokia to take home.
With the App competition Canonical wants to show, among other things, be as easy to program applications for Ubuntu, and attract new developers. At least the first two apps created with Quickly, use a RAD (Rapid Application Development), which makes it pretty easy to quickly develop applications.
