Release of the video driver xf86-video-intel bring SNA to the masses

by admin ·

Chris Wilson (Chris Wilson) in the X.Org mailing list announced the release of the video driver xf86-video-intel version 2.20.0.

SNA – a new architecture rendering acceleration, developed by Intel for server drivers X.Org. The new architecture is designed to increase the rendering speed compared to the previous architecture, UXA, as developed by Intel. The new architecture is developed last year for a series of chips Sandy Bridge, but it should yield acceleration for all chips supported by the driver xf86-video-intel.

In this version of the driver architecture of SNA is not enabled by default, but is compiled in the driver and does not require a separate assembly, indicating the driver option – enable-sna. Now for the inclusion of a new architecture is in / etc/X11/xorg.conf to specify:

Option “AccelMethod” “sna”
In this release made 456 changes, mostly aimed at the correction of errors in the architecture of SNA, also has error correction in the architecture of UXA and added compatibility with X.Org Server 1.13, which was changed API.
