Head Valve wants to support Linux, because Windows 8 – Catastrophe
by admin ·
At yesterday’s game event in Seattle, CEO Valve Gabe Newell said that one of the reasons that delays in the spread of Linux on the desktop – is support videogames.
“The big problem that impedes the spread of Linux are games. People do not realize how important the game for customers “- says Newell. “We want the 2500 Games for Steam can be as simple as possible to run on Linux. This reserve strategy. I think that Windows 8 – is a disaster for all the world’s PC. I believe that we will lose some advanced OEM distributors who leave the market. I think many people will lose their profits. If all this proves true, then it will be good to have an alternative. ”
Earlier this year, Brad Wardell, CEO of Stardock (note – the developer of Sins of Solar Empire, Galactic Civilizations) wrote an article for Kotaku about the challenges of Windows 8. Wardell describes a new operating system “a nightmare to use.” If other developers for the PC experiencing the same feelings, they may be willing to follow Newell.
