Emacs 24.1

The release of the popular text editor GNU Emacs version 24.1.

Among the new features the following highlights:

  • The new system is installed with a new extension interface (Mx list-packages).
  • Support for editing and displaying text written from right to left (eg Arabic).
  • Support for display of the scope for Emacs Lisp.
  • Improved user interface themes (Mx customize-themes).


  • A unified system of add-on for most of the text input mode, and extensions.
  • Support for GnuTLS (built-in encryption for TLS / SSL), GTK + 3, ImageMagick, SELinux, and Libxml2.
