Aptitude 0.6.6 is available in Debian testing
by admin ·
The new version of the aptitude package manager now been uploaded to the repository testing branch Debian. The first thing to note the improvement in the support of multiarch : packages of “foreign” architectures are now displayed using the full name (for example, libc6: armel). It is also important to consider that the conflict solver is not enhanced to support multiarch: do not expect him to work correctly when resolving dependencies with different architectures.
The most important changes:
- Removed features:
- Now from the GTK-Interface you can not run the game “Minesweeper” because this could lead to the launching of the program with elevated privileges;
- Fixed serious bugs:
- At the command prompt now displays an error when updating the package lists;
- Fixed search patterns (in particular, ‘? Action (upgrade)’), the use of which has led to obtaining a list held by the mode («keep») packages;
- In curses-interface prevented debugging output;
- Added features:
- Basic support multiarch:
- In many places, use full names of the packages, that is, including the name of the architecture;
- Sort by name allows the architecture;
- In the information about the new package displays the fields related to architecture;
- Data on the packages are stored using a combination of name and architecture;
- Added new search patterns: ‘? Architecture (architecture)’ and ‘? Multiarch (multiarch)’;
- In a normal search (no templates) you can now use the format “name: the architecture”;
- Added grouping by the architecture;
- Improved grouping of section lib.
- Basic support multiarch:
There have also been updated documentation and several translations, including Russian. GTK-interface is no longer included in the standard because of the general assembly nedorabotannosti. A list of numerous other changes can be found at the link below.
