ReactOS – an international project of a free and a free operating system open source. ReactOS is not an exact clone of Windows, but OS-compatible applications and drivers Microsoft Windows (Windows NT version 5.x or higher – Windows 2000 and later). ReactOS developers working with programmers Wine and mingw64. This version includes a substantial number of changes, including work performed in the Google Summer of Code 2011.
One of the most significant changes is to improve the network stack. As part of GSoC, ReactOS has acquired a new TCP / IP driver (project LwIP). Library LwIP – a popular and stable implementation of the TCP / IP, originally created for use in embedded systems. The new driver is much improved stability and performance, allowing applications requiring high bandwidth such as torrents.
List of major changes:
- a new TCP / IP driver;
- compatibility with MSVC;
- DMA support operations Scatter / Gather;
- improvements in the library shell32;
- support to those;
- improvements in ACPI;
- Support Wi-Fi.
