Open Source Press gives away 500 Ubuntu packages to schools

The Munich-based publisher Open Source Press is playing Santa Claus and 25 schools and educational institutions a total of 500 packages Ubuntu and Kubuntu Linux 11:04″ for free.

Open Source Press wants to support claims to the use of free software in schools. Teachers, faculty and staff of the school administration can use the entry form for Nicholas-Action (PDF), a class set of 20 copies of ” Ubuntu & Kubuntu 11:04 Request “free.

The first 25 respondents who meet the conditions for participation will be considered according to the publisher and get the package free of charge.


The software box with two double-DVD (32 – and 64-bit) contains the operating system as a live version to try it out (requires no installation on the hard drive is required). In addition, of course, the complete software for installation on the DVD is available.

The box also contains a variety of programs for everyday use: browser, LibreOffice, calendar, contact management software for graphics and multimedia, and much more. A 88-page manual is included with every package and helps beginners take their first steps with the new operating system.
