Module connects Pam_mapi Zarafa and SMTP server

by admin ·

The developer Robert Scheck has introduced a free PAM module that can authenticate Linux users against Zarafa.
The Pluggable Authentication Module (PAM) serves as a link in scenarios where, apart from the Zarafa groupware a Linux SMTP server for outgoing mail in the game. In order to avoid an open relay SMTP servers require this to authenticate the sender. This often happens through the Simple Authentication and Security Layer (SASL), but the user can not use Zarafa database. This gap would be filled with his check module: Pam_mapi authenticates the user via Zarafa MAPI interface. Since this is a generic PAM module, it can be next to SMTP for the application to use for other services, for example, Samba or the Apache Web server.
