by admin ·
The GNOME Outreach Program for Women does not meet until late October applications from women who want to participate in an internship in a free software project. The Outreach Program is funded by the Gnome Foundation, Collaborative, Google and Mozilla and will help to involve more women in free software projects.
An internship in a Gnome project lasts three months. The participants are working from home, be guided by a mentor and collaborate with their project team and the rest of the Gnome community. You can develop software for the core of the Gnome desktop, file management, messaging, popular programs, educational applications or the platform libraries. In addition, they can also participate in projects in which they have not programmed, for example, graphic design, documentation or marketing.
Associated with the application that the women looked at several Gnome projects. Then they can decide in which project they want to get involved. During the internship, she received a doped with $ 5,000 scholarship. The last round of programs allowed eight women to discover the work in Gnome.
The mentor can also persist about the internship addition, if the participants want to continue to engage in their software project. The Gnome website contains further information about the Outreach Program and the applications .
