Connochaetes OS is content with 64 MB RAM

Connochaetes OS, a resource-friendly Linux distribution for older computers, has appeared in version 0.9.0.

It is the successor to the Deli-Linux project, the first is available now in stable version. Connochaetes OS requires at least a Pentium processor, 64 MB RAM and 2 GB of disk space.


The new release uses kernel 2.6.32.43 default, the newer version 2.6.39.4 is installed. In both cases it is Linux-libre kernel without proprietary firmware, because the project adheres to the SFF-free rules for distributions . IceWM as the desktop environment of the Desktop is version 1.3.7 used in conjunction with a Web browser and XXXTerm goffice, Abiword and Gnumeric as Office applications. Alternatively, there are packages for the Firefox derivative GNU Icecat Version 3.6.16 and 5.0, LXDE as the desktop is also in the 0.5 range. Pacman is the package manager of Archlinux.
