LoseThos is an operating system 64-bit PC, complete, free, and created a completely independent basis. In reality, this is not a Linux distribution ( Ubuntu , Mandriva , Fedora , etc..) and has no basic Linux. It is an alternative atypical all existing systems, able to fully exploit the latest multi-core processors that are in this case from a x86 platform 64 (Core i7, Core 2 Duo, Pentium D, …).
However LoseThos is a somewhat unusual in that it runs completely counter to the current standards in terms of GUI, usability and design, where Mac OS X reigns supreme. LoseThos is indeed much more reference to some of the 80 OS using a very basic GUI or text command lines predominate. This interface is represented in a resolution of 640×480 in 16 colors, where current standards are more like the Full HD 1920×1080 in 24 million colors. The author of the software specify the reasons for this choice by citing the drivers and hardware accelerated graphics cards are difficult to integrate, or using resources unnecessarily to its use.
LoseThos is ultimately rather intended to connoisseurs and developers (leisure and programming to the editor) avid command line since it includes among others a 64-bit development environment. In addition to also include a record 64-bit OS that allows access memory (RAM) to any stain on any heart and any time. In other words there are no addresses or virtual memory paging, significantly increasing the performance and efficiency of the system and the tasks. Pointers are also 64 bits.
To summarize some features of the system include the management of multitasking, the presence of a compiler / assembler 64 bit support RAM up to 12GB and beyond, the ability to read and write CD and DVD to ISO9660, support for the FAT32 file system outside the native integration of libraries 2D / 3D, the HD Audio support, etc..
LoseThos comes with documentation, demos and source code. It requires at least an Intel Pentium 4 Extreme Edition.
