LinuxTag 2011 presents lecture program

The organizers of the LinuxTag 2011, have given the lecture program of this year, which will expire in seven parallel tracks.

The of 11 to 14 May 2011 the Berlin Exhibition Grounds under the radio tower held LinuxTag is also this year an extensive free Conference Program exhibit. To make the program easier, the speeches were, as in previous years, grouped in parallel tracks. On Wednesday, the 11th May, there are the issues business models, development, data center and virtualization. On Thursday in Cloud Management, Business applications, high availability, and Office Admin sessions on the program. Friday is the other hand, under the banner of security, distribution, web frameworks, databases, and Admin. In addition to this day there is also the security tag instead. On Saturday, finally, the kernel issues, distributions, desktop, hardware hacks, OpenStreetMap, and Shell are provided. The lectures are depending on speaker in German or English.

Resara: Domain Controller for small businesses

Resara, a server for small businesses to Linux and Samba 4 base is available in version 1.0.

The server is designed for a network of Windows clients and can be administered with little prior knowledge. Samba 4 means it manages the users and passwords and makes it accessible as a file server drive shares. He also serves as a DHCP and DNS server for the local network.

The administration, such as user management is done in Resara via a management console.

Dister Rails builds appliances with SUSE Studio

The Suse developers Flavio Castelli and Dominik Mayer have released a command-line client for Suse studio called Dist.

The software is specialized in customized Linux images with Ruby on Rails applications to produce, containing all the required components Ruby. The inspiration comes from the commercial service Heroku .

Dister uses a Gemfile that lists the desired Rubygems. In addition, the tool has Suse Studio to install additional packages such as the PostgreSQL database to be created in the system image. Finally, does the command “dist push” by the developer built the application into Suse Gems Studio.

The command line tool used Dister Suse studio to produce a Linux image with all the necessary components for a Ruby Rails application.

European Commission has selected energy-efficient data centers

An award for energy-efficient data center operators will now be awarded at the Data Centres 2011th

Libre Office Box 3.3.2.1 download

The Document Foundation has published on time for their six-month anniversary, a new version of the Libre Box Office for free download.

The ISO images for the DVD contains installation packages for Windows, Mac OS X as well as dpkg and RPM-based Linuxes. Various language packs and templates are included, such as dictionaries and documentation for developers. In addition, the source code and the SDK with it. The makers of the box they packed also other programs like 7-Zip, Firefox, Thunderbird, Inkscape and much more.

LM sensor notes 3.3.0 and moisture intrusion

OpenSUSE 11.2 is retiring

Amazon attracts Cloud Drive with 5 GB of disk space

Amazon promises to users of its service Cloud Drive 5 GB of free data storage.

Nokia sued for patent infringement Apple again
